If you’re looking for an acne remedy, be prepared to spend some time and money. There are a whole host of homemade acne solutions that people have concoctued over the years. While some may work, I believe most are just old wive’s tales.
The best approach is to really understand what causes acne and take steps from there on post the surface level, as in what you do to your skin, and even more importantly, what food and drinks you consume. Acne is caused by the overactiive glands that secrete oily substances onto the skin. Some people say that you can not control that oil and that the best you can do is to try and treat the areas and prevent more spots from flaring up. However, there is no doubt that many people see acne increase when they eat junk foods. Blackheads, pimples and zits often seem to flare up after eating oily foods. Many doctor’s say that is false, but then again, once upon a time they thought vitamins of any kind were useless and not needed by the body. They have been proven wrong before.
My advice to reduce your acne and pimple outbreaks is to limit what you eat. By that I mean try and eat a much more alkaline based diet. You can look up alkaline based foods online. Of course you must also try and wash your skin and keep it clean. That isn’t always possible given everyday life, but it usually helps somewhat. If you have severe acne, you may wish to visit a dermatologist and see what he or she says. Sometimes they will recommend perscription topical or oral antibotics. This can help, but long term antibiotic use of any kind has been shown to be detrimental.
Then there are all the over the counter acne remedies that claim wild success. Personally, I believe most of those are useless, however, some do seem to work for those with mild acne issues. Unfortunately, they only seem to help only a small percentage of people with bigger acne problems. But given the stigma of having bad acne, some of them may be worth a try. Proactive has become wildly successful. It is certainly not a cure all though. Many people have reported little to no success by using it.
In closing, I suggest you try some different things. The biggest one is going to be how clean you keep the surface of your skin and what you eat. In the end though, acne is very often just something we have to live with. While society may often place a stigma on those with acne, remember that beauty is a lot more than skin deep. People who only like others based on whether or not they have acne are truly shallow people anyways. That may be hard to digest but it’s true. I wish you all the best in finding an acne remedy that works for you, but even if you don’t find one, most people usually outgrow it in the twenties so just be happy don’t fret over it. Take care of yourself and best of luck in life.
